PEACE DAY AT ROCHESTER HIGH SCHOOL IN NEW YORK

Rochester High School celebrates PEACE DAY. They have activities all throughout the day. This one is particularly poingnent. The whole school participates, including the school superintendent – the african american woman in royal blue shirt below.
During this exercise, everyone remains silent the whole time as question are presented over the loud speaker, questions like: “Have you ever been bullied?” To answer yes, you silently step across the hall. “Has anyone in your family been sent to prison?” The superintendent stepped across the hall right along with some students. “Has any family member or close friend of yours been murdered?” Tough questions!  It truly was eye opening and humbling.
