The Bellingham Herald
Dean Kahn is a long time reporter for the Bellingham Herald and he loves history. He is the one that first introduced me to the book called THE RACE BEAT by Gene Roberts & Hank Klibanoff. It’s absolutely FANTASTIC. I referred to often this book while making “Children of the Civil Rights”. If I were a history teacher, its the one book I would require every student to read, a page turner and a must read for everyone!
I am including some excerpts below from Dean Kahn’s interview with us.
“… “Children of the Civil Rights” arrives amid heightened awareness about race relations in the country, including recent protests over police conduct in black communities, and the 50th anniversary in March of the pivotal march from Selma to Montgomery in Alabama.
Clifford said the early campaign in Oklahoma City is a reminder that people can bring about positive change without turning to violence.
‘This film shows how powerful nonviolence is, and how important the youn are in making change,’ she said. …”
