“… Our youngest citizens need to see and understand what their elders accomplished when they were children; of how they “Sat Down for What’s Right!” In sitting down for what was right in Oklahoma City, Clara Luper and her young students changed Oklahoma City. They changed the state of Oklahoma, the nation, and the national Civil Rights Movement!

If today’s children fail to understand that crucial era of our nation’s history, we truly are just one generation away from losing the Republic for which our parents sat down for, road for, and marched for.
Children of the Civil Rights is relevant for our students to know and comprehend that they, too, can make positive changes in their world and help in the ongoing struggle to secure personal and communal liberty. …”
